I was putting my hands up like, ‘what’s going on?’ He told me to get on my knees and arrested me and put me in cuffs.\u201d\\n\\nSystems like these scan images or video feeds for the shape and appearance of weapons. They’re meant to reduce risk, but they’re only as good as the algorithms behind them and the human judgment that follows.\\n\\nSuperintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers told reporters:\\n\\n\\u003e \u201cThe program is based on human verification and in this case the program did what it was supposed to do which was to signal an alert and for humans to take a look to find out if there was cause for concern in that moment.\\”\\n\\nWhile we understand the need for safety measures against guns on school grounds, this could have been handled better.
